"Bum" Shirts and Centennial Posters For Sale

New and back by popular demand!

While producing and mounting the photo exhibit "I Was A Bum Once Myself", Danlee Mitchell came up with the idea of making commemorative t-shirts to celebrate the occasion. Similar thinking produced commemorative posters for the UCLA/Microfest Harry Partch Centennial. These items have ended up being the fetish items that would not die, so here is your chance! We have just made the third print run on shirts, and have a good number of them; posters we'll not run out of soon. See below for details . . .

Editors Note: for the time period Thursday, January 31 through Monday, February 4, we will not be taking online orders. When we return from San Jose I will post current inventory and then we will sell what is left at that time.

Originally created for the first run of the photo exhibit, the first batch of shirts sold out. So we made more. And now we've made more. The shirts were accompanied the photo show the HP Foundation produced in San Francisco in September of 1999, and new ones were printed in May, 2001 for the UCLA Partch Centennial. And again again. The Bum show consists of nearly 40 rare photographs from the life of Harry Partch, many seen publicly for the first time. If you want to get a glimpse of the show, go here.

And now we have posters to sell you! This poster, designed and produced by Rita Funk-Hoffman for the Foundation, was in conjunction with the UCLA festivities, and is "not available in any stores". Printed on high-quality stock and suitable for framing, these 11" x 17" posters are a great token of that original gathering, and feature not only info from the day but a striking photograph of Partch himself. We will get one of these to you, complete with a mailing tube and postage included, for the sum of $10.00. More info below...

So, as for the shirts, here is the info you need:

  • They are made of 100% pre-shrunk cotton (Fruit-of-the-Loom), and I will personally remove any wrinkles before I mail them! We have shirts in four sizes: Medium, Large, Xtra-Large, and just a few XX-Large -- you must specify your size.
  • They are plain white t's with photos on front and back: front is a print similar to the poster that publicized the exhibit, showing Harry with his Adapted Guitar I in front of the Cloud-Chamber Bowls and the title of the show ("I Was A Bum Once Myself: Rare Photographs from the Life of the American Composer"), along with his signature (front is in maroon, black and white); back is a photo of HP at the Gourd Tree, his signature in black and our site address.

Shirts are $15 apiece, and postage of $4 takes care of at least two shirts (write for details if you are ordering more than that). Posters are $10; due to the packaging needs of the items, I have to mail the shirts and posters separately.
Money orders are preferred (only because I don't want to deal with bounces) but I'll take personal checks until the first clown bounces one. Make checks and MO's out to the Harry Partch Foundation, let me know how many and of what size, and send to:

Please remember that while you are having fun with a Harry chest and back, or Partching up your wall, your money also helps support our efforts to make sure that Partch and his work are visible and understood. And we love you for your support. If you have any other questions, write me at shirts@corporeal.com or at the above street address.
